COMPTROLLER Bello Jibo has assumed duty as the new Controller of the Nigerian Customs Service ( NCS), Seme Area Command.
Mr. Hussaini Abdullahi, the Customs Public Relations Officer, Seme Command, stated this in a statement he made available to newsmen in Badagry, Lagos State, on Tuesday.
Abdullahi said that Jibo was transferred to Seme Area Command following the recent appointments and deployments of some higher-ranking officers in the service.
He said that Jibo assumed duty at the command on Sept. 28, 2020.
He said that the outgoing Acting Controller, Deputy Comptroller Chedi Wada, at a brief ceremony handed over the mantle of leadership of the command to Jibo.
Wada thanked the Comptroller General of the NCS and the management team for the opportunity to serve as the Area Controller in an acting capacity.
He urged the officers of the command to accord the new controller the needed support so that he would be able to effectively perform well at Seme Command.
Wada prayed for God’s guidance and intervention for a successful tenure for the area commander.
Also speaking, the new Customs boss for the command, Mr. Bello Jibo, commended the outgoing Acting Customs Area Comptroller for a successful tenure and wished him the best of luck in his future assignments.
He said that with the ongoing border drill exercise and COVID-19 lockdown order, the task of effectively securing one of the nation’s borders remained his utmost priority.
Jibo solicited the support and cooperation of the officers and men of the command to effectively manage the affairs of the command by reducing smuggling and other trans-border crimes to the barest minimum. (NAN)
