Anambra State government has renewed a call on the federal government to urgently refund the N46 billion the state used to refurbish some portions of federal roads in the state.

The appeal was made by C Don Adinuba Anambra State commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, while receiving management of Purity FM, a subsidiary of Radio Nigeria, Mgbakwu, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Awka.

He said the idea of fixing the federal roads by government of Anambra was a display of non-discrimination by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra.

He urged the station to invest much of their energy in helping the state to reach the government at the centre, so that a refund of the funds would be made possible as promised by Babatude Fashola, minister of Works, when he visited the state last year.

Greg Odiakosa, the general manager of the station, who led the management team, thanked Anambra Government for the cordial relationship existing between the station and the state.

He expressed their readiness to work with the government and the good people of the Anambra State.

Odiakosa said that the station maintained high level of professionalism and that the time had come for them to partner fully with the state government.

He pleaded with the commissioner to lead them to the governor; a dream he said, they had been trying to achieve with no success for a long time before now.

The Purity FM boss commended government for the ongoing work on the road leading to Mgbakwu and pleaded that the construction be extended to the road running through the station in order to alleviate difficulties they face plying the road.

He enumerated their difficulties in navigating the state to perform the task of news gathering, pleading with the governor to provide them with a vehicle to ease their difficulties.

The team promised to do stories to promote activities of government of Anambra as well to help the state to recover the state’s fund, yet to be refunded by the FG.
