THE Police Commissioner in Ondo State, Mr Taiwo Jesubiyi, has implored lawmakers in the state to report any erring police personnel to senior officers in the command.
Jesubiyi stated this, on Thursday in Akure, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun.
“I am barely two weeks in the state and we are here to serve the people of the state.
“We are not here to antagonise the state and we are to obey rules and regulations enacted by the House of Assembly.
“As your servants, if you observe any inadequacies of our men, senior officers, do not hesitate to draw attention of the senior officers to it,” he said.
The CP restated that the primary purpose of the police was protection of lives and properties of citizens in the state, saying that the police would do its best to secure the state.
Jesubiyi solicited the support of the House of Assembly so that the task of the police could be made easy. I want us to work together to achieve our objectives.’
Responding, the speaker described Jesubiyi as humility personified.
He appreciated the CP for deeming it fit to pay the courtesy visit.
Oloyelogun stated that the House of Assembly would always collaborate with police in the state for better security.
He prayed for wisdom and strength for the CP in discharging his duty to make the state a safe place for all.
The speaker also assured that the incoming 10th Assembly would work in partnership with the police to make the state safe for all. (NAN)
