Reps begins consideration of N419.8 bn FCT supplementary budget

THE House of Representatives on Wednesday, began consideration of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) 2024 Supplementary Appropriation Bill of a total of N419.8 billion.

The bill presented by the Majority Leader, Rep. Julius Ihonvbere (APC-Edo) followed a request by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

Presenting the bill, Ihonvbere said that of the N419.8 billion, the sum of N38.06 billion is for Overhead Costs while the sum of N381 billion is for Capital Expenditure.

He urged members to support the bill for effective running of the FCT.

In his remarks, the Speaker, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas referred the bill to the House Committee on FCT for further legislative actions.

In a meeting shortly after plenary, members of the FCT committee resolved to give accelerated hearing to the budget.

The Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Aliyu Betara (APC-Borno) said that the committee will lay a report on the bill before the house for further consideration and adoption. (NAN)
