HOUSE of Representatives Member-Elect for Isoko Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko has described as completely false and misleading information that his country home at Erawha-Owhe was invaded recently by gunmen.

Ukodhiko in a statement on Tuesday said the publication by Sahara Reporters stating that his country home was invaded by gunmen numbering 10 was false and an attempt to mislead the general public.

He said the incident happened over three weeks ago when he gave his cattle to an Hausa herdsman to take care of them and the man was unfortunately attacked by cattle rustlers between Emevor and Agbarha-Otor bush over 15 kilometers away from his Erawha-Owhe country home.

He further said that when the Herdsman did not return with the cattle days later, the matter was reported to the Otor-Owhe Police Division, Ozoro Area Command, Department of State Service DSS until the decomposing body was found days later.

The former Delta Energy Commissioner said the issue was not reported to the press then because the police and other security agencies were handling the matter and in order not to jeopardise ongoing investigations.

He said the Herder’s family have been contacted and the man buried already.

According to him, if his country home was indeed attacked, who counted the gunmen to ascertain that they were over 10?

He described as very unfortunate that a media House like Sahara Reporters would publish a story without carrying out proper investigation.

He therefore called on SaharaReporters to retract the said publication within one week and tender apology for the trauma caused by the publication.

He said failure to retract and apologise for the malicious and unfounded publication, he would be left with no option than to seek redress in court for the negative publicity it had caused him.
