Reps to involve anti corruption agencies in recovery of Ecological Funds
Politics
THE House of Representatives says it will involve anti corruption agencies in the recovery of ecological funds in the country.
Rep. Ibrahim Isiaka, Chairman, House Committee on Ecological Funds said this at the resumed investigative hearing on the Need to Investigate the Total Consolidated Accruals And Utilisation of Ecological Fund on Tuesday in Abuja.
The members expressed dismay at the continued absence of relevant agencies at the investigative hearing of the committee.
The committee said it was important to prove to the absenting agencies that the investigation was a serious business.
The chairman, while addressing the agencies present, said the ecological fund was not free money meant to be squandered, adding that any agency that received the fund must be made to account for it.
According to him, the Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency borrowed some funds from the ecological fund, saying they must come and explain to the committee how the funds were spent.
The committee therefore summoned the Federal Ministries of Health, works, Niger Delta and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to appear before the committee.(NAN)
