Reps want electricity supply restored to Ogun LGA

THE House of Representatives has called restoration of electricity supply in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
This followed the adoption of a motion by Rep. Joseph Adegbesan (APC-Ogun) at the plenary in Abuja on Tuesday.
Presenting the motion, Adegbesan said electricity being one of the fundamental fruits of democracy underscored the objectives of sustainable development goals.
“This is aimed at boistering the nation’s economy for the welfare of its citizens.
“We cannot ignore the fact that Nigerians and industries alike have endured the challenges of erratic electricity supply and prolonged blackouts,” he said.
Adegbesan said of particular concern were communities residing in the Ogun Waterside LGA of Ogun, including Ibiade, Iwopm, Ayila, Abigi, Efire, Ilusin, Ayede and Olojumeta.
He said that the communities had been plunged into darkness for nearly two decades, with no government intervention to address their plight.
The House resolved to mandate the committee on power to investigate the matter and report back to the house in four weeks.
The House urged the National Rural Electrification Agency (NREA) to reconnect the communities to the national grid.(NAN)
