Residents invade warehouse in FCT, loot foodstuffs amid hardship

SOME residents have invaded a warehouse a warehouse belonging to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
Vanguard gathered that the warehouse, is located in Karimo, Phase 3 Region of the FCT, Abuja, was raided on Sunday morning.
According to reports, the residents carted away foodstuffs and other items.
Meanwhile, the police in Abuja have been deployed to the area to disperse the looters.
The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident.
Adeh, however, added that the situation had been brought under control.
“The situation is now under control,” she said.

Earlier reports on social media had claimed that the warehouse belonged to the National Emergency Agency (NEMA).
Our warehouse intact, not looted — NEMA
Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has dismissed the news making the rounds that its warehouse was looted by some FCT residents in Gwagwa-Karimo.
NEMA’s spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, in a telephone conversation with our correspondent confirmed this development.
Reacting he said, “Our NEMA warehouse is intact, the one that was looted does not belong to NEMA.”
However, Vanguard learnt that the looted warehouse belongs to FCT Agric.
