Rotary Club donates Books to Anambra Library

THE Rotary Club of Nigeria, District 9142, Awka, has donated a 40ft container load of books to the Prof. Kenneth Dike State Central e-Library, Awka.
The contribution is aimed at improving the reading culture among citizens of Anambra.
In a speech at the occasion, the District Governor, Emma Udo-Akpeh said the donation was part of the club’s obligation to promote education and literacy among the people.
Governor Ude-Akpeh listed donation of books, provision of healthcare services and protection of the environment as some of the club’s-oriented programmes.
He commended the Anambra State government for promoting education in the state.
According to him, the club will continue to support and partner with the present government.
Commending the club, Tony Nnachetta, commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, said, “Rotary club is one of the clubs that renders assistance to individuals, institutions and government’’.
Nnachetta applauded the club’s benevolence, urging them to do more in accordance with Governor Willie Obiano’s vision for Anambra people.
“School children and public library users can now have enough books and read for longer hours because of adequate security in the state.’’
In her speech, Nkechi Udeze, acting director, Anambra State Library Services, thanked the club and government for their support.
She stressed that reading was important in all aspects of life, adding that the books would be shared accordingly.
