ROTARY Club of Abuja Municipal Area, on Friday, inaugurated three projects in Government Junior Secondary School, Durumi II, FCT.

President of the club, Ayuba Tuodolo, listed the project to include six toilets with water, planting of 100 economic trees and e-library.

“When my club came to this school, we noticed that there were no restrooms for students. They were just urinating anywhere, thus making the environment to smell unpleasantly. So we thought that something must be done about it.

“Why we planted 100 trees in the school was because we thought that the school needed fruit trees that were good for the health of students in their growth period, to help keep their health in check and these include mango, pawpaw, cashew, etc.,” he said.

Tuodolo also added that the projects were aimed at ensuring that the students had environment conducive for teaching and learning.

The District Governor of Rotary International District 9125 Nigeria, Mr Ayoola Oyedokun, who inaugurated the projects, said that the club was all about impacting and changing the lives of people in the community, adding that it had gone a long way in achieving its objectives.

He also said that the e-library would save a lot of students from failing examinations and help them in doing their assignments.

“This e-library carries academic textbooks for all classes and it will give the students access to books they can’t afford to buy. Also, the provision of toilets will help in personal and environmental hygiene and eradicate open defecation,” Oyedokun said.

Principal of the school, Chukwukere Magdalene, expressed appreciation to the club for its usual support for the school and for putting smiles on the faces of the students, pledging that the projects would be maintained. (NAN)
