JULIUS Maada Bio (rtd) of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party, SLPP, is to be sworn in as the country’s 5th President having won the March 31, presidential run-off election with more than 92,000 vote margin against his ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, counterpart Samura Kamara, informed sources said in Freetown Wednesday.

Bio, who received more than 1.3 million (51.81 percent) votes against Kamara’s slightly over 1.2 million (48.19 percent)  will replace President Ernest Bai Koroma of APC, who has completed two terms of five years each.

Under Sierra Leone’s constitution, a winning candidate is sworn in once the chief electoral officer certifies the results of the election, followed by official inauguration later.

The chief justice has been alerted for the swearing in at 10GMT tonight.
