Sales boy jailed 6 months for  stealing  N110,000

AN Area Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced Mubarak Mohammed, a sales boy to six months imprisonment for stealing the sum of N110,000 .

The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The judge, however, gave the convict an option of N30,000 fine or  six months imprisonment for theft and asked him to pay the complainant a compensation of N110,000 or one year imprisonment in default.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Monday Debit, told the court that the case was reported at the Laranto Police Station Division on  Aug. 1, by Mrs Maryam Abdullahi.

He  said the complainant accused Mohammed of stealing a bag containing the sum of N110,000 from her shop.

The prosecutor further told the court that during a police investigation, the accused person confessed to have committed the offence .
The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
