Sall, Appointed Delegate to Burundi

PRESIDENT Macky Sall of Senegal has been appointed a member of the high-level delegation to travel to Bujumbura, capital of Burundi. The decision followed the 26th regular session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union held in Addis Ababa on January 30 and 31, 2016.

According to President Idriss Deby Itno of Niger and chairman of the African Union, the high-level delegation includes, President Sall, representing West Africa; President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania, President Jacob Zuma of South African; President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon and Ethiopian Hailemariam Desalegn, prime minister of Ethiopia.

The delegation was mandated to consult the government and other actors on the Burundian inclusive dialogue and, if necessary, the deployment of the African Union Mission in Burundi.
