AS it celebrates 10 years of operations in Nigeria, Schneider Electric, has restated its commitment to continue to partner with the federal government in the implementation of the power reforms. At the special recognition and award event for employees, in commemoration of its 10 years of operations, Walid Sheta, country president, Schneider Electric Nigeria, said the company would remain a willing partner of the country’s power reforms.
According to him, Schneider would continue to liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that the country’s full power potential is realised for the overall benefit of Nigerians. Sheta appreciated the company’s long-serving staff, describing them as the reason behind the success story of the company’s decade-long operations in Nigeria.
The company would forever be indebted to their staff who worked tirelessly to ensure that the company’s objectives were met and surpassed. “Today we not only celebrate 10 successful years of operations in Nigeria, we also would like to show immense gratitude to all our staff and publicly extol the hard work of key staff members, whose efforts undoubtedly accounted for the steady growth of the organisation and brought it to where it is today. We are part of those improving IT and electrical distribution and energy efficiency around the world, and we will continue being major players in the industry, but we know also that a key factor that has helped us and will continue to help us achieve this, is our team of dedicated and committed staff. This is why we are celebrating them today. With them, we know that the next 10 years will even be better,” he said.
According to Sheta, the past decade has seen Schneider Electric’s operations in Nigeria, driven towards the actualisation of the federal government’s effort of national development through the Energy and IT sector. He noted that this could be seen in some milestone projects like the company’s collaboration with MainOne on the finalisation of the first of its kind Tier 3 datacenter in West Africa, and the launch of its retail business to gradually develop a network of accredited retailers.
Other milestones include stemming the rate of counterfeit products, its participation in the ‘Light Up Rural Nigeria project’ in collaboration with the Federal government, and launch of APC by Schneider Electric experience centre, another first of a kind in Africa to mention a few. As part of its focus for 2015 and beyond, Schneider Electric has concluded plans to address emerging markets in Nigeria where the middle class is experiencing exponential growth rate.
“With over 170 million inhabitants and 10 cities among the 30 biggest cities in Africa, there is a growing need to address the building and construction gaps. The key word for Schneider Electric is geographical coverage, being available to serve not only big infrastructure projects but also the small and medium scale building sector. We are going to address these diffused markets. Nigeria has the biggest economy in Africa, a huge and growing population and rising energy needs in all sectors. No doubt, we are looking forward to greater and much better years ahead. As a dependable company, we will continue to drive our strategy in terms of business operations and human capital development. We will continue to be innovative in our strategies and products and delight our customers with exceptional services as always,” Sheta said.
