Mr Kalu Ulu, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the State Assembly in Abia, has advised electorate against selling their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs),  ahead of the general elections.

Ulu gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Umuahia

The contestant, who is from Arochukwu constituency, said that vote buying and selling was a breach of the law and a dent to the electoral process of the nation.

“Buying PVC is real, but it is a shame on the political class and politicians.

“How can I come to contest election and begin to buy your vote?“ He said.

He said though the political class should be blamed, the electorate too should understand that those in public office were not doing them any good.

“It is your right that they serve you, so you must demand your rights at all times.

“Those who are asking for your vote should not buy it because when they do, you have sold your conscience; they are calling you a fool.

“They are not ready to deliver any good to you because in their mind-set, you have been paid off.”

Ulu, a former commissioner in the Local Government Commission in the state, said if elected, he would give quality representation to his constituents.

He said he was confident of emerge as winner, provided that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducts a free and fair election.

“I would not want to be a product of fraud. I want to be a product of the mandate freely given by the majority of my constituents.

“If criterion for measurement is credibility, experience and track record of performance, I think I stand tall among my peers, “he said. (NAN)
