The Oyo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Ayodele Sonubi, has reiterated the importance of public collaboration with the police in tackling security challenges.

Sonubi reaffirmed this in Ibadan while inaugurating a reconstructed police station at Maku, Egbeda Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Thursday.

The CP, represented by ACP Usen Ekanem, reiterated the security of lives and property remained a collective responsibility of all and sundry.

According to Sonubi, an effective collaboration between security agencies and the general public will enhance the government’s efforts toward providing adequate security.

He commended the 25 communities that pulled resources together to complete the project.

He equally appreciated the leadership of Egbeda LGA, Mr Sikiru Sanda for supporting the communities to ensure the dream became a reality.

The CP, however, charged residents of the contributing communities to always feed the police with useful information to flush out criminals from the area.

The reconstructed police station, according to the CP, has been upgraded to an area command.

Meanwhile, the council chairman explained that his administration decided to take up the reconstruction project because of the priority it attached to security issues.

Sanda recalled the project was initiated and launched 12 years ago by the Central Landlord Association to boost the area’s security.

He commended the CP and his team for their relentless efforts and continuous monitoring of the project to the completion stage.

He further appealed to all residents of the area to furnish security officers with the necessary information to perform optimally.
