Security guard docked for alleged negligence of duty

A 45-year-old security guard, Adamu Gimba, on Thursday appeared in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged negligence of duty.
The police charged Gimba, who resides in Ungwan Rimi Kaduna State, with criminal negligence.
The Prosecution Counsel, SP Martins Leo, told the court that the norminal complainant, Grace Luka reported the case at the Gabasawa Police Station, Kaduna, on July 29.
Leo told the court that the defendant, who is a security guard attached to Olive Plaza located at Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna, failed to secure the plaza and thieves broke into the premises.
He said that the thieves broke into the complainant’s shop and stole five sewing machines, worth N325, 000.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 196 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 26 for a hearing.(NAN)
