Security guard docked for allegedly stealing women gowns

A security guard, Alphonsus Olegbo was on Wednesday docked in an Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja for allegedly stealing 30 pieces of  women’s gowns worth N540,000.

The police charged Olegbo, who lives at Mararaba, Nassarawa State with Criminal Conspiracy, Shop breaking and Theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Ade Adeyanju, told the court that the defendant who was the security guard of the complainant’s shop  and other at large, and broke into her shop located in Karu, Abuja and stole 30 pieces of women’s gowns worth N540, 000.

During police investigation, he said, the defendant could not give a satisfactory explanation of all the allegations filed against him.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 97(2), 353 and 288 of the penal Code.

The Judge, Hassan Mohammed granted the defendant bail in the sum of N600, 000 with  two reasonable sureties.

Mohammed ordered that the sureties must live within the jurisdiction of the court, address verified by court officer and they should provide National I.D cards which must be kept in the court.

He adjourned the case until Nov. 3 for further hearing. (NAN)
