Judiciary
A Grade I Area Court, Dei-dei, Abuja, has sentenced Shedrack Solomon to six months imprisonment for stealing 20 bags of stone dust and iron burglary proof.
Solomon of Nepa Road, Kubwa, Abuja, was convicted and sentenced after pleading guilty to the charge against him.
He, however, begged the court for leniency.
The Judge, Mr Sulyman Ola, gave Solomon an option to pay a fine of N30,000.
Ola also ordered Solomon to pay the complainant, Bello Bisalla, N320,000 compensation and warned him to desist from committing crimes.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant reported the matter at Dutse Alhaji Police Station on Aug.8.
Ogada said that the complainant employed Solomon as a security guard at his company, Beltima Global Concept and Solution Ltd sometime in March.
The prosecution counsel further said Solomon stole 20 bags of stone dust, two iron buglary proof and six pieces of iron rods from the company, all valued at N320, 000.
He said during police investigations, Solomon admitted to the crime and confessed he sold the said items to Babawo, now at large.
The offence, he said, contravened the provision of Section 289 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
