Security tightened as materials arrive INEC office in Okitipupa

SECURITY agencies on Thursday beefed up security at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo state ahead of Saturday’s general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the personnel of Nigeria Army, Nigerian Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were seen at the premises of council secretariat as officials of INEC took delivery of sensitive materials for the elections.
Mr Adedayo Fakorede, INEC official in charge of Okitipupa LGA, told NAN that all sensitive materials to be used for the elections on Saturday had been received.
Fakorede also said that ad hoc staff for the conduct of the election had been screened and those who passed recruited and would be dispatched to their units and wards on Friday.
“Yes, there is tight security here because we have taken delivery of all sensitive materials to be used for the election on Saturday.
“We have also screened all successful adhoc staff after the training and we will be dispatching them to their various units as from tomorrow,” he said. (NAN)
