4 Brigade conducts sanitation to mark Army Day Celebration

AS part of activities to mark the 2018 Nigerian Army Day celebration (NADCEL), the Nigerian Army formations under the 4 Brigade, Benin, on Saturday, carried out a sanitation exercise.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise commenced at 7 a.m. and lasted till 10 a.m. at the popular Ekiosa market, under the supervision of Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Garba, Commander, 4 Brigade.

Garba, while briefing newsmen on the exercise, said the exercise was part of activities lined up by the Brigade to celebrate the 155th NADCEL, with the grand finale coming up on July 6 in Maiduguri.

According to him, the sanitation exercise is part of the social responsibilities of the army to give back to the society, and that the soldiers are first of all members of the society.

The Commander also said the sanitation exercise was aimed at enhancing military/civil relationship, as well as to show that soldiers were conscious of their environment.

He said NADCEL aimed at constantly reminding all of the supreme sacrifice made by the country’s gallant troop as well as showcase the contribution of the army to keeping the nation united and indivisible.

He further said the celebration served to project the Nigerian Army as an instrument of unity, integration and development as well as highlight the achievements, capabilities and positive image of the Nigerian Army.

NAN reports that the theme of the 2018 NADCEL event is “The Nigerian Army and National Security: A Panacea for Nigeria’s Economic Development.”

NAN also reports that the exercise was jointly carried out by the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army School of Logistics and Transport and the Military Hospital all in Benin. (NAN)
