Bello commends security agencies over peace, security in FCT

THE Minister, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello, has commended the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their contributions towards peace and security in the territory.
Bello said this in Abuja on Wednesday while receiving Course 41 participants of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State.
He assured that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA) would continue to work with security agencies to build a capital city that would rank among the best through the provision of first-class infrastructure.
Bello, represented by the Executive Secretary, FCDA, Umar Jibril, noted that the visit coincided with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations.
The minister added that the sacrifices of the country’s heroes, both fallen and standing, would always be acknowledged.
He said a lot of efforts had been made towards the development of the FCT, since the Federal Government’s movement from Lagos to Abuja in 1991.
“This is to bring the city into the ranks of other new capitals like Brasilia, Canberra, among others.
“We will continue to convey our sincere delight to the Nigerian Armed Forces, and indeed other security agencies, for their contributions to the peace and security in the FCT,’’ the minister stated.
Earlier, the team leader, Maj.- Gen. A. Folarinso, said the study tour was to enable the course participants have on-the-spot study of situations and how they affect the socio-economic development of states.
He added that at end of the tour, participants would make presentations on findings and submit their recommendations.
Folarinso called on the minister to attend the presentations, which he assured would be of immense value to FCTA.
The team leader also commended the minister for the warm reception accorded him and his team.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the highlight of the visit was a media presentation on the strides of the FCT, as well as a lecture by the Education Secretariat of the FCTA.
One of the participants, Major Thompson Araki, who thanked the FCTA, described the presentations as educative and good resource materials for the study they had embarked upon.
