THE new Commissioner of Police in Enugu, Mr Ahmad Abdulrahman, has pledged to partner relevant stakeholders for effective fight against crime in the state.

Abdulrahman made the pledge on Wednesday when delegations from the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and the Nigeria Policing Programme (NPP) visited him.

He said the command recognised security to be everybody’s business, saying: “we must bring relevant stakeholders to fight crime collectively.”

“We have to police together in line with the tenets of community policing for a safe and secure state.

“I shall be relating with all stakeholders; criminals are society’s common enemy, we shall fight them together,” he assured.

Responding, Mr Dominic Ezema, Enugu State Chairman of PCRC,  assured the police commissioner of the committee’s readiness to support the command  to achieve set goals.

“PCRC will continue to partner the command for a safe and secure state and in line with the tenets of community policing,” he said.

The leader of the NPP delegation, Mr Solomon Akpanufot, briefed the commissioner on various NPP’s intervention programmes in support of the fight against crime in the state.

Akpanufot said  NPP was ready to continue its support and partnership with the command to ensure effective service delivery.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abdulrahman assumed duty as the command’s new helmsman on Monday following the redeployment of the former Commissioner Sulaiman Balarabe to the Force Headquarters. (NAN)
