MAJ-Gen. Abbah Dikko, the newly appointed Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, has called on stakeholders to support the military toward successful implementation of counter insurgency campaign.

Dikko made the appeal during the handing over of the command at the Military Control and Command Centre at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.

He said such collaboration was imperative to defeating Boko Haram and for restoration of peace to the Northeast.

“We are all stakeholders in the campaign against insurgency. I enjoined stakeholders to support the military to ensure successful implementation of the campaign,” he said.

Dikko commended journalists for their objective reportage aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence in the country.

“The media is a very significant component in achieving success in the counter insurgency operation. I therefore enjoined you to report diligently, professionally and objectively in the interest of national security,” he said.

Dikko took over the command from Maj-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, who had been posted to the Army Headquarters Resource Centre on course.

Until his recent appointment, Dikko was the Commander of Operation Last Hold in the Theatre.

In a brief ceremony, Dikko was presented with the flag by his predecessor after signing of the handing and taking over notes at the Military Command and Control Centre at Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri.

Earlier, Rogers appealed for more synergy among all security agencies and other relevant stakeholders in the campaign against insurgency in the northeast.

Rogers, who expressed happiness that he left Boko Haram terrorists in a very degraded state, however urged the officers to redouble their efforts in ending the war.

He commended the sister security agencies for according him necessary support toward achieving many operational successes.
