According to Iheanacho, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for the zone, AIG Alkali Usman, presented the cheques to the 10 beneficiaries of the scheme as well as next of kin of deceased beneficiaries from Edo and Delta.

He said that during the presentation, Alkali charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for the up keep and welfare of their families.

He also said that the scheme was a welfare insurance policy established by the IGP Ibrahim Idris to ameliorate the suffering or hardship faced by deceased colleagues immediate family before the benefits of such Police officers were paid.

“The AIG further stated that the essence of the scheme was in line with the IGP vision of catering for the welfare of officers and men of the force, including supporting the families of deceased officers who lost their lives on the line of duty.

” The AIG also urged their immediate families, especially the wives and children, to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude,” Iheanacho quoted the AIG.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Precious Izunyon thanked the IGP and the force management team as well as the AIG for the gesture.
