SEN. Biodun Olujimi, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District in the Senate, has congratulated Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, on his appointment as Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Olujimi, in a statement personally issued on Friday in Ado-Ekiti, described the appointment as a confirmation that the royal father was worthy of recognition.
According to her, the traditional ruler is not only worthy but eminently qualified to lead such a citadel of learning.
She said the Adejugbe’s appointment could not have come at a better time than now when the ivory towers across the country needed moral compass to navigate the growing decadence.
“I have no doubt in my mind that our kabiyesi will perform beyond the expectations of the president who reposed his confidence in him.
“The Ewi is noted for excellence, meritocracy and due diligence, which are the virtues needed at this time to clean the rots in our universities,” the senator said.
Olujimi prayed for strength and wisdom for the revered traditional ruler to be able to discharge the functions of his new assignment effectively.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the president had recently appointed 42 traditional rulers as chancellors of some federal universities, one of whom was the Ewi.
