THE Nigerian Senate has approved the appointment of Prof Uche Uwaleke as Special Adviser to Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, Chairman, Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions.

Uwaleke, who is Nigeria’s first professor of capital market, is also the President of the Capital Market Academics of Nigeria and is currently Director, Institute of Capital Market Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

Conveying the message in a document NASS/10TH/S/COBIF/02 on Thursday, Ogunrinde G. Tinuke, Clerk/Deputy Director Legislative, expressed confidence in the professor’s capabilities to carrying out his new assignment.

The letter noted that the appointment is in recognition of Prof Uwaleke’s deep knowledge of the country’s financial system.

“I have no doubt that your expertise in the field of banking and finance will be of great assistance to me and other members of my Committee in the effective discharge of our oversight function on the country’s Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions.

“Accept my congratulations,” the letter added.
