The Senate has sworn in Ahmad Babba Kaita and Lawan Yahaya Gumau as members representing Katsina-North and Bauchi-South Senatorial Districts, respectively.

The Clerk to the Senate, Nelson Ayewo, supervised the oath-taking ceremony for the new senators, which lasted about 10 minutes at the opening of the session on Wednesday.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, later shook hands with the lawmakers.

Kaita and Gumau had won the by-elections conducted in August by the Independent National Electoral Commission following the deaths of the former representatives of the districts.

Senators Mustapha Bukar (Katsina-North) and Ali Wakili (Bauchi-South) had died at different times earlier in the year. – Punch
