THE three new senators who won election on Saturday, December 10, in rerun elections in Rivers State, were sworn in during the Senate plenary on Thursday, December 15.

The swearing in of the three senators from Rivers State has increased the number of seats occupied by the All Progressives Congress, APC to 63 and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to 44.

The trio are Osinachukwu Ideozu, George Sekibo, both of the PDP and Magnus Abe of the APC. With the swearing in, the APC has consolidated its majority with 63 seats; PDP 44, Labour Party, LP one, while the seat of the Anambra Central is still vacant.

The APC now has a seat in the South-East and another in the South-South as against what obtained when the National Assembly was inaugurated in June last year.
