SENATOR Oyelola Ashiru’s office has denied the claims by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, of discovering illicit drugs at the senator’s residence in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The NDLEA’s claims came after Senator Ashiru publicly declared the agency as corrupt on the floor of the senate.
The statement by the office of the Senator said that the agency’s operatives found nothing incriminating during their search and that the Senator never employed anyone named Ibrahim Mohammed or Mohammed Yahaya, as claimed by the NDLEA.
It added that Senator Ashiru also denied sending any aide to influence the NDLEA to drop drug allegations against Tosin Odepidian.
The statement wondered why the NDLEA has not taken suspected drug dealers to court, instead it engages in name-calling and media trials.
According to the statement, Senator Ashiru remains committed to upholding the truth and seeking strict professionalism among law enforcement agencies.
“The situation highlights concerns about corruption and professionalism within the law enforcement agencies in Nigeria,” the statement added.
