SEN. Salihu Mustapha ( APC-Kwara Central) has donated internet facilities to the Press Centre of the Kwara Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ilorin.

He made this known on Saturday while interacting with journalists after the Iftar (breaking of Ramadan fasting) he organized for them at his residence in Ilorin.

Mustapha, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production and Rural Services, said the installation of the internet facilities at  the press centre would assist the journalists in filing their stories with relative ease.

The senator said that the gesture was aimed at ensuring that media practitioners ply their trade in a conducive environment and minimize their expenses on internet subscription.

Mustapha pledged to always be of assistance to the council whenever the need arises.

“I want to appreciate you (journalists) for all that you have been doing in projecting us and for drawing our attention to issues that needed to be addressed as lawmakers.

”As politicians representing our people, we cannot quantify the amount of job you do.

“In consultation with my team, we have resolved to bankroll installation of internet facilities at Kwara NUJ Press Centre for the use of journalists to file their news stories in quick time and with ease.

“We are doing this to relieve you and your work, and to also assist you in terms of data subscription. My team will reach out to you very soon to commence the installation of the facilities,” the legislator said.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of NUJ, Abdullateef Ahmed, thanked the senator for approving the installation of the internet facilities.

Ahmed said that the facilities, when fully installed, would save the journalists huge burden and minimize the cost of data subscription while filing news reports to their respective media outfits. (NAN)
