Senator elect takes oath of allegiance

THE Senate has administered oath of allegiance on Dr Stephen Odey (PDP-Cross- River) as member of 9th Senate, following his victory at the Dec. 5 by-election organised by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The oath was administered by Clerk of Senate, Mr Dauda Ibrahim El- Ladan, shortly after the commencement of Wednesday’s plenary.
Senate thereafter considered for first reading five bills.
Some of the bills were- Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 Alteration Bill, 2020 by sponsored Sen. Utazi Chukwuka (PDP-Enugu), Industrial Training Fund Bill sponsored by Sen.Alkali Ahmed (APC -Gombe) and Students Financial Aids Scheme Establishment Bill, 2020 sponsored by Sen. Amosun Ibikunle (APC -Ogun).
The Senate also confirmed Mr Onyemuche Nnamani as member of Police Service Commission following his nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The followed the adoption of the report of Senate Committee on Police Affairs presented by the Chairman, Sen. Jika Hilliru (APC -Bauchi) at the Committee of the Whole.
