SEN. Bello Mandiya (APC-Katsina South) has distributed items worth more than N1 billion across the 11 Local Government Areas of the zone to empower his constituents..
Speaking at the event on Tuesday in Kafur Local Government Area, Mandiya said that the gesture was to appreciate the support given to him by the constituents to represent them at the Senate.
According to him, his constituents have shown him love that he cannot be forgotten, saying that he was the second senator with the highest vote in Nigeria in 2019.
He, therefore, called on all his supporters to vote for the APC from state assembly to presidential elections, praying that the next senator from the zone will do better than him.
The items donated included an ambulance each to the General Hospital, Malumfashi and Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Kafur.
Others were: 200 motorcycles, 138 tricycles, 3,500 bags of fertilizer, 750 water pumping machines, 350 grinding machines and 202 deep freezers, among others.
Also speaking at the event, Gov. Aminu Masari commended Mandiya for the gesture, saying such it will improve the lives of the beneficiaries.
According to the governor, such assistance, if properly utilised, will go a long way in improving the income of the beneficiaries.
Masari added that the senator deserves more respect for such empowerment in spite of him not contesting in the 2023 elections.
Mandiya was elected to represent the zone in 2019 under the platform of APC, but was not able to secure the ticket for a second term.
Masari said:”For someone who did not secure a ticket, but remained in the party and even offered such a gesture to his constituents, must be a true politician.”
Also in his speech, the former Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdulaziz Danyare said the beneficiaries include; traditional and religious leaders, women, youths, party members and other vulnerable people. (NAN)
