TWO women were killed and 11 others received treatment at a hospital when a footbridge collapsed near the Serbian town of Cacak on Thursday, state news agency, Tanjug, reported.

The two victims were pilgrims from the Serbian region of neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, newsite rina.rs said.

According to the report, the victims were crossing the pedestrian bridge from the spa town of Ovcar Banja  in order to reach an Orthodox monastery on the opposite bank of the Western Morava river.

The cause of the bridge collapse is unclear.(dpa/NAN)
