THE International Federation of Association Football, Fifa, on Wednesday, October 28, confirmed seven candidates for next February extraordinary congress which is expected to produce a successor to Sepp Blatter, embattled president.
However, the football’s world governing body excluded David Nakhid, former Trinidad and Tobago international, from the race. No reason was given for Nakhi’s exclusion.
Those cleared to contest are – Gianni Infantino, general secretary of Uefa, Europe soccer governing body, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, a member of the Bahraini royal family, and Musa Bility, head of the Liberian Football Association.
Others are – Michel Platini, embattled UEFA president; Ali Bin Al Hussein, a Jordanian prince; Tokyo Sexwale, a South African businessman and Jerome Champagne, a former official of the Fifa.
