The Sokoto State House of Assembly has urged the State Government to construct a bridge and six culverts across Kagara stream in Goronyo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

This followed the adoption of a motion by Alhaji Faruku Amadu (APC-Goronyo) at Wednesday’s plenary in Sokoto.

Speaking on the motion, Amadu said that the project would help ease difficulties faced by residents who usually experienced perennial flooding during the raining season.

“The people of the affected communities are predominantly farmers, construction of the bridge and culverts will ease the movement of farm produce and boost social and economic activities of the state.

“More so; in consideration of the project targeted to alleviate the sufferings of the people there is need to rehabilitate the 40km road linking about 15 villages in Goronyo and Wurno LGAs,” he said.

Amadu said the proposed road would provide a link between communities in the area. “The road will link Kagara, Kawadata, Balla, Tsohon Garin Dole, Boyekai, Dan Waru, and Giyawa communities. Others are Dansilba, Nasarawa, Dimbiso, Duhuwa, Duhuwa Babba, and Kaura Huchi,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, who presided over the sitting put the motion into a voice vote, and it was unanimously adopted by the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, the house has adopted a motion by Alhaji Abubakar Kyadawa (APC-Gada West), urging the state government to construct a 45 km road to link 10 villages in Gada LGA of the state. (NAN)
