Sokoto Trader remanded over alleged impersonation, theft

A trader, Babangida Yusuf, 24, has been remanded by a Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged impersonation and theft.
Yusuf, a resident of Rijiyar Dorowa area, Sokoto, was accused of stealing a handset and N3, 000 cash and is facing a two-count charge of stealing and impersonation.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Khalid Musa,told the court that the offence was committed on March 7, at C.O.E area, Sokoto.
Musa said the accused stole the items from one Ahmed Muhammad of C.O.E Area Sokoto.
He said during police investigation, the phone valued N3, 500 was found in the possession of the accused.
Musa said the offense contravened Sections 132 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The chief magistrate, Abubakar Musa, ordered remand of the accused in prison pending conclusion of police investigation.
He adjourned the case to March 21, for mention. (NAN)
