THE Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has confiscated 18 fake UNIFOAM mattresses in Tsaragi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)reports that the fake UNIFOAM mattresses were confiscated by SON last Thursday.

Mr Oyebola Ayeni, the State Coordinator of SON, who confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that it was executed on Thursday.

Ayeni said one Kingsley Kelechi was arrested in connection with the act.

Represented by Mrs Mariam Dolapo, the Head of Unit, Chemical Technology, SON, the coordinator explained that the main objective of the Director General of SON, Mallam Farouk Salim, was to ensure that quality assurance was enforced within the country.

He also said that their objective was to ensure that the enforcement officers always carried out their intelligent work.

He explained that the suspect was arrested after it was discovered that he was branding his mattresses with UNIFOAM clothes.

“The man in question is buying another product of crystal foam and clothing his mattresses with UNIFOAM.

“We have removed all the 18 mattresses found in his two shops, to confirm if the foam is in correct density, which is our starting point.

“We have discovered where he is getting the UNIFOAM clothes and all the people involved have been arrested.”

He however warned other business men and women to stay true to their dealings, adding that there is no need to imitate other’s work before succeeding.

Similarly, Eneh Anthony, the Head of Enforcement, SON, said that the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of the mattresses followed intelligence report.

“He pleaded guilty during interrogation at the Civil Defence office and we discovered 18 mattresses from the culprit’s shop, located at Etsu Salihu, Mamma Saba Shopping Complex, Tsaragi,” he said. (NAN)
