Spa therapist docked for allegedly assaulting police officer, damage

A 32-year-old spa therapist, Habibat Owolewa, was on Tuesday docked in an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a police officer in Lagos
The police charged Owolewa, who resides in Ikorodu area of Lagos, with four-count charge of assault, open injury, damage and breach of peace.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Donjor Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 19 at Shop A4, Omega Plaza Ikosi ketu area of Lagos State.
He said the defendant had an altercation with Elizabeth Oluwatoyin, her employer which Oluwatoyin reported at Alapere police station.
He alleged that Owolewa punched a police officer Insp. Ukamaka Okwa, who came to arrest her on her face
“Owolewa inflicted an open injury on Okwa’s nose with headbutt to the bridge of her nose when she was trying to resist an arrest.
Perezi said that the defendant also damage the officer’s cloth with blood stain which valued N40,000.
The prosecutor said that the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by scattering items in the shop of Oluwatoyin.
The offence, she said, contravenes the provisions of sections 173, 174, 350 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Magistrate M.O. Tanimola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N250,000.
She adjourned the case until Oct. 12 for mention (NAN)
