Spalletti rules out Osimhen against Spezia

NAPOLI coach Luciano Spalletti has ruled out Victor Osimhen from this weekend’s Serie A home game against Spezia.

Osimhen was substituted in the 41st  minute of Napoli, Liverpool UCL tie with a reported muscle strain in his right thigh.

Spalletti who is yet to get over the excitement of thrashing Liverpool 4-1 in the opening match of the UEFA Champions League said Nigeria is at risk if featured tomorrow (Saturday).

“He (Osimhen) is not at risk for Saturday, he certainly does not play. And he will not play anymore in the coming weeks, since it is a muscle problem,” Spalletti said.

According to Napoli, Osimhen underwent therapies yesterday and today while diagnostic tests will be carried out on him.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has dismissed the seriousness of the injury. “As far as the injury is concerned, I don’t think it’s particularly serious, I will visit tomorrow (today), I have positive feelings,” Osimhen said.

He added: “I want to come back soon and help the team. Football is like that, but I have to keep going. Thanks to everyone who has sent me messages to support me.”
