EDO Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu says the state is building international facilities ahead of the National Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020.
Shaibu gave the assurance in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Benin.
“We are looking beyond hosting national tournaments,” he said.
According to Shaibu, very soon the state will be bidding for the hosting of Commonwealth games and the all African games.
“Edo will be a very good venue that has standard facilities for such big games.
“We are upgrading all the facilities that will be used for the sports festival to meet international standard.
“The facilities we are building will attract international friendliest and qualifying series for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
“Edo is setting up a new standard for the upgrade and building of sports facilities for the successful hosting of the national festival,” the deputy governor added. (NAN)
