THE management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos on Friday said it has placed its players and technical crew members on a “No Result, No Pay’’ rule.

The club said the decision was because of a dip in the performance of the team in the ongoing 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the below-par performance has culminated in the club’s first home defeat of the season on Wednesday.

The team lost 0-1 to newly-promoted Kada City FC of Kaduna in Jos in a Match Day 10 fixture.

Albert Dakup, the club’s media officer, said in a statement that imposing the rule became imperative after the team’s first home defeat in three years in the NPFL.

“Aside the “no result, no pay’’ rule, the players and technical crew members will be placed on half salaries until the fortunes of the club improve.’’

Dakup said the club’s General Manager, Pius Henwan, announced the club management’s decision to the players and officials on Friday when he addressed them at their New Jos Stadium training ground.

“Henwan told them that they must work together to achieve the goals and objectives of the team so as to pick a ticket to play on the continent next season.

“He further told them that the team’s current performance is unacceptable to the government and people of Plateau,’’ he said.

“Having worked so hard to ensure the prompt payment of your salaries and other entitlements, the state government who are sole financiers of the team and the people of Plateau State deserve more than what they are getting from the team,’’ the club spokesman further quoted the General Manager as saying.

Henwan then stated that the team must win their next match against Abia Warriors in Umuahia or get at least a draw in order to recoup the lost points.

He added that the club management has concluded arrangements to drop players it rates as being unproductive “and who has failed to exhibit professionalism, commitment and hard work’’ at the end of the first round.(NAN)
