Steward docked for allegedly stealing employer’s 3 TV sets

A 24-year-old steward John Sunday, on Friday appeared in a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing his employer’s televisions.
The police charged Sunday, who resides in Mararaba, Nasarawa State with joint act and theft.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, informed the court that on June 28, the complainant, Victor Oko of Cefcon Suites & Apartment, Gwarinpa, Abuja, reported the matter at Gwarinpa Police Station.
Ogada told the court the CCTV in Hotel captured the defendant in the hotel premise in possession of cell phone knowing that he was not permitted to use cell phones when on duty as a staff.
The prosecutor said the defendant went outside the hotel and came back few minutes later, he went to hotel bar and removed the three LG 55-inche televisions worth N897,000.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Gambo Garba, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 and one surety in like sum.
Garba adjourned the matter untill Aug. 11, for hearing. (NAN
