MR Oluseye Diyan, the newly elected President, Rotary Club of Ibadan, Jericho Metro, has urged Nigerians to stop blaming the government, but rather collaborate with it to develop the country.
Diyan made the plea on Sunday in Ibadan, at his investiture as the 11th President of the club and raising of fund for the club’s project.
“I believe that as members of the public, we should do more in the area of collaboration. Enough of people blaming the government, that it has not done this or that.
“We, as people, who are volunteers to do humanitarian service, should assist the government. In fact, we can point at the way things should go,” Diyan said.
He said that collaboration with the government would reduce the cost of implementation of projects and ensure quality as well as delivery in record time.
Diyan said the club would be raising N45 million for the 2022 and 2023 projects of the club, including constructions, training and medical services, as well as outreaches, among others.
He reiterated the commitment of the club to support the less privileged to make the society safe and better for all.
Also, Mr Samuel Kolawole, the immediate past President of the association, in his valedictory speech, said that various notable projects were done under his leadership with the support of members of the association.
Kolawole said that raising the bars of excellence, with which the club was known for, had made it receive an award of recognition among other Rotary Clubs in Nigeria.
He said that about 20 projects, including renovation, training, medical and food outreaches, among others were executed.
The club president, also urged the government to open itself up for partnership and make the processes of partnering with it less cumbersome.
“Government should make it a lot easier for those who are interested in partnering with the government, to be able to do so, because the government only can not do it,” Kolawole said. (NAN)
