Succour to Communities as Senator Akpabio Commissions more Constituency Projects

SOME communities in Oruk Anam, Etim Ekpo and Obot Akara Local Government Areas will at the weekend erupt in will jubilation as the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio visit them to inaugurate some projects he executed to bring succour to his constituency.

A statement by Anietie Ekong, special assistant on Media to the Senate Minority Leader, said some of the projects to be commissioned include roads, classroom blocks, a civic centre, open market stalls and water projects.

According to the statement, in Oruk Anam Local Government Area, Senator Akpabio will commission the Ikot Adia – Ukpom road and a tastefully furnished three classroom block with desks in Ukpum Village.

Other projects to be commissioned in Oruk Anam include an ultra-modern civic centre built in the memory of the late former Senator and Governor of the old Cross River State, Chief Donald Dick Etiebet Civic Centre in Ikot Ekpuk and also a three kilometer radius, solar-powered reticulated water project in the same community.

Still in Oruk Anam Senator Akpabio will commission 20-stall open market project in Urua Anwa, Aya Obio Akpa and a furnished three classroom block in Obio Ibiet Esa.

In Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Senator Akpabio is also billed to commission a fully furnished three classroom block at Primary School Utu Etim Ekpo and a solar-powered 3.5 km radius reticulated water project in Utu Idung Akpan Udom Village and 20-stall open market project.

While in Obot Akara, Senator Akpabio will commission a three classroom block he built at the FIDA Secondary Commercial School, Urua Offiong Etor Udo and inspect a solar-powered water project in Uruk Usung Village.

It will be recalled that Senator Akpabio had last week similarly commissioned some of his constituency projects in Ini, Ikono, Ikot Ekpene and Abak Local Government Areas. This was part of the over 50 projects that he has executed to bring relief to his constituents. Over 280 students have benefited from full scholarships by Senator Akpabio.

According to the Special Asistant on media to the Senate Minority Leader the execution of Constituency projects by Senator Akpabio is unprecedented. “Not only has Senator Akpabio positively touched the lives of his constituents with these life-touching projects, as a leader and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, he sees the whole state as his constituency and so has graciously extended his constituency projects to communities in Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts,” the statement said.

According to Mr Ekong the dates for the commissioning of more projects in Ika, Essien Udim Local Government Areas and Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts will be announced in due course. He enjoined the benefiting communities to guard and protect the projects so as to attract more projects.
