Suicide bombers and other terrorists die as Nigerian troops repel attack on Shetimari, Borno State

TWO suicide bombers leading a band of terrorists were among over a score of those of them who died as Nigerian troops succeeded in repelling the terrorist attack on Shetimari in Borno State on Thursday, June 4. More than 2 rifles and 1 machine gun were captured from the terrorists group as the attack was repelled. Also recovered from the group were rocket propelled grenades and some bombs, according a statement signed by Major General Chris Olukolade, director, Defense Information and made available to Realnews this evening.

Troops conducting mopping up operation are still combing the area while others are in pursuit of those who are on the run. Incidents of suicide bomb attacks were also recorded in Jimeta,  Yola and Maiduguri yesterday evening.  Details are still forthcoming, he said.

Meanwhile, the offensive operations in Sambisa and other forest enclaves of the terrorists are continuing with intelligence activities, aerial surveillance and highly coordinated air bombardment backed by ground assaults, Olukolade said.
