THE new coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles team wants Vincent Enyeama, former Nigerian captain back in the team. Gernot Rohr, new coach of Nigerian team, said he would soon meet with Vincent Enyeama, a former Nigerian goalkeeper and skipper, to discuss a comeback to the Super Eagles. Enyeama, who plays for Lille in France, quit international football in October last year after a spat with Sunday Oliseh, former Nigerian coach.

He has since been replaced by Carl Ikeme, who features for plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers, an English Championship side. Rohr, who is saddled with the task of qualifying Nigeria for the 2018 World Cup, has insisted that the country would need all its best players to achieve the goal. He said: “I live in France and I know Enyeama. He’s a good player and I do not know why he is no longer playing for Nigeria. We have spoken and perhaps I hope to meet him soon because we need our best players for us to have the best chance to qualify for the World Cup.”

Nigeria is drawn in a tough qualifying group for Russia 2018 with Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia. The Nigerian Eagles will begin their qualifying campaign on October 3 in Zambia, before the hosting Algeria the following month. “It’s my mission to qualify Nigeria to Russia 2018,” he said. “Nigeria have the best players in Africa and I have the German mentality to bring good organisation and discipline to this team.”
