THE Supreme Court on Tuesday, October 27, dismissed the suit filed by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, challenging the jurisdiction of the state governorship election petition tribunal to hear a petition filed against his election by Dakuku Peterside candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the April 11 gubernatorial poll.

The tribunal on Saturday, October 24, nullified the election and ordered a fresh poll within 90 days.

Wike, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the poll, had said in his petition that the tribunal which sat in Abuja had no jurisdiction over matters that transpired in Rivers State.

He insisted that the tribunal should have conducted its activities in the state and not in Abuja, federal capital.
