Surety jailed 3 months for failing to produce accused

AN Area Court in Jos, on Thursday, sentenced one Sani Ukasha, aged 31, to three months’ imprisonment for failing to produce an accused person he stood surety for.

The Judge, Mr  Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Ukasha, who pleaded guilty to the charge and pleaded for leniency.

Bokkos, however, gave the surety an
option of N10,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the surety failed to produce an accused person in a case of seasoning cubes theft.

Gokwat said that Ukasha failed to produce the accused when needed in court, in contravention of Plateau State Penal Code, Law. (NAN)
