SWAN mourns NTA sports editor, James Oparaekeocha

THE Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has mourned the death of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Sports Editor, James Oparaekeocha, who died on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in Enugu.

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, SWAN Enugu State Chapter, Gideon Iwueke and its Secretary, Chinedu Adonu, on Thursday in Enugu.

The association lamented the sudden death of Oparaekeocha, who had contributed immensely to SWAN and sports development in Enugu State and the entire South-East.

“It is indeed a sad moment for SWAN members in Enugu State and South-East as we lost our active member, James Oparaekeocha.

“His sudden death is devastating to the association.

“Our condolences go out to the wife and family of our dear member as well as to the NTA.” it said.

While praying that God grants his loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, the statement prayed that God Almighty would keep protecting all SWAN members and their loved ones.

NAN reports that Oparaekeocha died in Enugu after a brief illness.(NAN)
